Coffee With a Rotarian
A natural part of Rotary is the networking and the fellowship you get out of meeting other Rotarians. Coffee With a Rotarian is a monthly program of our club where we match participating club members for one-on-one virtual (or in some cases in person) coffee meetings, so they can learn more about each other. This program is organized by member Tzviatko Chiderov.
This week we have Manuj from Delhi, India reporting on a chat with Nate from Nagoya, Japan.
This was my 1st CWR. Nate was fantastic. Learned about diff ways of our club and a lot about him. A 3rd year Rotarian, A teacher and A coach. Managing personal and professional fantastically. He is into music, has his own band and plays guitar. Must say we have some seriously talented Rotarians in our club. In one line - “Dedicated teacher, Devoted husband, Die Hard Rotarian”

Happy Dollars: Do Good by Sharing Something Good
Each week we ask our members to share stories with the club and toss in a few dollars to support our efforts. The primary goal of this section is to provide a fun way of getting to know each fellow members and guests, while giving back to a good cause.
Happy dollars is an opportunity to share something positive that has happened in your life whether it is personal or business. Think of it as your opportunity to brag a little, but also put a little bit into a karma jar. The money donated through happy dollars is put to charitable use, and the message that you leave for happy dollars will be posted in our online meeting the following week for the entire week for folks to see! Aline's comments about the military as an example of a more systemic compensation system fascinated me. I'd be curious to get Aline and Bethany's perspective on what we should expect as a result of the recent election.
I also enjoyed the Rotary page about the power of our donations, as well as the video about the man who started educational boats for rural areas of Bangladesh. Innovation, entrepreneurship, and education all in one! Nice, also, that there is alignment between the inspirational video and the program.

Program: Unleashing Teens' Potential in the Developing World

Every week we bring to you a new program on innovation, entrepreneurship, and education, and how those contribute to service to others. Special thanks to member Roger Plested for leading our club's Programs Committee in finding us amazing speakers each week.
Our speaker this week is Brian Buntz.After serving in the Peace Corps in Guatemala in the mid-90's, Brian returned home to California to become a middle school teacher in Mountain View. He worked with students recently arrived from Latin America.His mind, though, was always on the kids back in these countries who weren't able to go to school. In 2007, he founded the Young Dreamer Network and Dream Volunteers as a way to provide these teens in the developing world access to the knowledge and resources they needed to become change agents.The network also empowers students from the U.S. through service learning programs. Globally, DV/YDN works with more than 500 young people per year. Brian has also personally led an average of 12 service trips a year for middle, high school students, college students, and families interested in making a difference in communities throughout Guatemala, Vietnam, Costa Rica, India, and Ghana. Throughout these trips, he has witnessed the transformative power of service, cultural immersion, and self-reflection.In this talk, Brian will discuss how Dream Volunteers and its youth-empowerment program Young Dreamer Network is changing lives and transforming communities in remote villages in Costa Rica and Ghana, and slums in India and Vietnam. Through access to education and mentorship in the areas of leadership and service learning, this organization is investing homegrown difference makers in communities around the world that both need and want change.Members and guests, please welcome Brian Buntz!
