Greetings Rotarians and Guests,With the Holiday Season upon us, it's a good time to think about the gifts we give and the kind of good we can do with them. During the meeting the week of November 19th, our very own Foundations Chair Cecelia Babkirk, talked about the kinds of impact The Rotary Foundation has done and how giving to the Annual Fund comes back partially matched to the Club to do more great service projects. I encourage everyone who is able to in the Club to sign up for monthly giving through Rotary Direct at https://my.rotary.org/en/donate. Your contributions will help us do more cool projects like school supply drives and laptops for high school graduates.

Constructive engagement
When contractor Douglas Gardner, a member of the Rotary Club of Chandler-Horizon in Arizona, heard about the flooding in Texas caused by Hurricane Harvey in August 2017, he wanted to help people rebuild. He contacted Amy Hinchman of the Rotary Club of The Woodlands, Texas, and they developed a plan.

Coffee With a Rotarian
A natural part of Rotary is the networking and the fellowship you get out of meeting other Rotarians. Coffee With a Rotarian is a monthly program of our club where we match participating club members for one-on-one virtual (or in some cases in person) coffee meetings, so they can learn more about each other. This program is organized by member Tzviatko Chiderov.
This week we have Brian from Corralitos, CA, USA reporting on a chat with Rebecca from Sydney, Australia.
Rebecca Fry and I had a wonderful meeting. She called me on Skype during her Monday afternoon commute home in Sydney Australia. I was relaxing at home on a Sunday evening in California. That’s life in the 21st century. We had a delightful conversation while my very suspicious 10yr old daughter took copious notes on the conversation to brief my wife when she returned from her evening nurse’s shift at the hospital: “Daddy was talking to a strange woman!”. As you know, the exuberant and irrepressible Rebecca lives and works near Sydney, the capital of Australia. She grew up in New South Wales and works in government affairs for Johnson & Johnson. We found plenty in common, including a love of travel, Australia and the national parks of the western United States. I hope that we’ll see Rebecca and her partner come visit us in Northern California sometime soon. She’s a wonderful human being and would make a very good friend. Rebecca, it was great to talk with you.

Remember, you’re only taking advantage of the full impact of Rotary when you’re stepping up to get involved.
Happy Dollars: Do Good by Sharing Something Good
Each week we ask our members to share stories with the club and toss in a few dollars to support our efforts. The primary goal of this section is to provide a fun way of getting to know each fellow members and guests, while giving back to a good cause.
Happy dollars is an opportunity to share something positive that has happened in your life whether it is personal or business. Think of it as your opportunity to brag a little, but also put a little bit into a karma jar. The money donated through happy dollars is put to charitable use, and the message that you leave for happy dollars will be posted in our online meeting the following week for the entire week for folks to see! (Pending that it’s appropriate!)Here are the happy dollars contributions from last week!This section is usually updated on the early hours of Saturday, so contributions made over the weekend may not be listed here.

Every week we bring to you a new program on innovation, entrepreneurship, and education, and how those contribute to service to others. Special thanks to member Roger Plested for leading our club's Programs Committee in finding us amazing speakers each week.
Today you'll hear from Edward DeAguilera, who serves as the United States Chief Development Officer for Project Amigo, a 501c3 Organization dedicated to transforming lives through education.Previously Edward served as the Executive Director at the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida where he was responsible for overseeing the annual strategic planning/investment. In addition, DeAguilera managed grants, marketing, communications, volunteer engagement and public policy strategy.Edward was born and raised in Orlando, Florida, and spent nearly six years serving as a Director of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando. He was also a Commissioner in Orange County, Florida's Charter Review Commission, that controlled and directed and initiatives for the local government charter (local constitution). He has been active in his community serving in various Board of Directors including: Orlando Health Foundation, US Census, United Way Chef's Gala among others.A graduate of Columbia College and of the University of Central Florida, where Edward received a degree in political science. Edward and his wife Freda have two children, Delaney and Edward.
