Greetings Rotarians and Guests,This week we have our very own International Service Chair, Angela Hoang, talking to us about how rewarding it can be to connect with your local Rotary Club and do service through them. I've personally visited a few clubs in my area and I've always found them to be incredibly welcoming places. You'll find just how different each club is from how they conduct meetings to what kinds of projects they're interested in. But the one constant among Rotary clubs is that they love service and they love having fun doing it. It may be intimidating to visit a new club but I think you'll find it quite rewarding!

Weekly Funny with the Lady of Laughter (LOL)
We believe laughter is an important part of life, and we should all make time to laugh a little. This segment of our meeting is meant to tickle you just enough. These funnies are curated by member Yvonne Kwan, our “Lady of Laughter!”
This week, I'm in the wilderness with my 5th graders at science camp, so here are some jokes that are a little in-tents!

Weekly Inspiration
Every week we start our meetings with a short video highlighting innovation, inspiration, entrepreneurship, or social change.
Accessible only by horseback, a remote village in Mongolia has stood as the epicenter of reindeer herding for thousands of years. The nomadic Dukha people have been passing down their herding heritage for generations. Today, they remain the last reindeer herders in the world. Due to harsh weather conditions, more and more herders are moving to the cities, leaving the Mongolian tradition on the brink of extinction. But for the families left in the area, it is an honor to keep alive the culture and practices of their ancestors before them.

Herring curtains’ spawn a recovery
Under the waters of British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast, along docks in the seaside community of Madeira Park, a population is quietly expanding. Hand-sewn curtains, supplied by Rotarians, provide a crucial spawning environment for herring, which are a primary food source for salmon and marine mammals in the Salish Sea.

Coffee With a Rotarian
A natural part of Rotary is the networking and the fellowship you get out of meeting other Rotarians. Coffee With a Rotarian is a monthly program of our club where we match participating club members for one-on-one virtual (or in some cases in person) coffee meetings, so they can learn more about each other. This program is organized by member Tzviatko Chiderov.
This week we have Rushton from San Jose, CA, USA reporting on a chat with Olukunle from Lagos, Nigeria.
Last week I had the pleasure of connecting with Olukunle Abolade, one of our newest members, as part of Coffee with a Rotarian. Olukunle (pronounced like it is spelled, by the way) got to us as a number of members have - interested in Rotary but very busy, was told about online clubs, and is into technology, so a good fit with us. His work covers websites, and web and mobile applications, so he may end up being a good resource for Tzviatko, who handles our site! I also asked what his name means, and the answer is, "God is in the house." Very cool!

Let us know what you want to do by posting in our members only Facebook Group (if you don’t have access, please request it with Webmaster Mitty). Remember, you’re only taking advantage of the full impact of Rotary when you’re stepping up to get involved.
Happy Dollars: Do Good by Sharing Something Good
Each week we ask our members to share stories with the club and toss in a few dollars to support our efforts. The primary goal of this section is to provide a fun way of getting to know each fellow members and guests, while giving back to a good cause.
Happy dollars is an opportunity to share something positive that has happened in your life whether it is personal or business. Think of it as your opportunity to brag a little, but also put a little bit into a karma jar. The money donated through happy dollars is put to charitable use, and the message that you leave for happy dollars will be posted in our online meeting the following week for the entire week for folks to see! (Pending that it’s appropriate!)
