Having gone to the the convention last year in Toronto, I'd highly recommend it. It's a great excuse to travel and an excellent way to make new passionate friends. Also, members of our e-Club tend to be more excited than most other Rotarians to see each other in person there!

Through a Rotarian's Lens

Photography is all about capturing light. These impalas in Kenya were photographed on an overcast day in ideal lighting conditions. I used a long lens (400mm) and fast shutterspeed from a parked vehicle. The Rotarian Magazine will be publishing this photo in a future issue (June-July).
Coffee With a Rotarian
A natural part of Rotary is the networking and the fellowship you get out of meeting other Rotarians. Coffee With a Rotarian is a monthly program of our club where we match participating club members for one-on-one virtual (or in some cases in person) coffee meetings, so they can learn more about each other. This program is organized by member Tzviatko Chiderov.
This week we have Shags from Walnut Creek, CA, USA reporting on a chat with Mitty from Fremont, CA, USA.
Mitty and I finally found a mutually convenient time to connect for this month’s CWR visit. From mid-February through June, he travels to about 15 different Rotary related conferences and events talking to Rotarians about different topics of interest. We chatted about many things – Rotary and otherwise. And we posed some interesting questions: Are you a folder or a scruncher? (That’s a way to split a group in two cohorts!) Is it Dave’s Killer Bread or Killer Dave’s Bread? (He is an ex-con but not for homicide.), and even more mundane things. He’s working on the early stages of a non-profit that will help those in remote areas of the world that have high poverty rates learn how to program and write code so that they can earn a living via the internet. He is indeed Mighty Mitty!

February 2019 Club Announcements
"Hi! Do you have any questions about the club?" - The New Facebook Chatbot on Main Pages. If you have visited any of our non-meeting pages in the past few days, you'll notice that we now have a Facebook Chatbot active on our site. This is one of our new initiatives to try to convert more prospective leads into members, as well as to increase interaction between guests and our club. Messages will be responded to by our social media team. Please note this messenger chat isn't designed for club members. Members, if you still want to contact someone, please direct your notices to the email of the member or the officer you want to reach.
2019 Homepage Refresh! After hearing feedback from members, the webmasters can now say that we have finally gotten around to updating the main hero image on the homepage into something that we believe better represents the global and the digital nature of our club. We'll be periodically changing the graphic throughout the year, as we continue to refresh different parts of our site.
Join page updated! The webmaster team has done a much-needed facelift for the Join page. The start of a new year is the perfect time to share with friends and colleagues our Join page!
Weekly Meeting Disqus Reactions Updated. Did you know you can leave a reaction for each of our weekly meetings now? Right above the comments for a weekly meeting, you'll now find four different reactions you can vote for. We've also added some comment policy, and are working on fine-tuning a few other pieces to the comments and the meetings.

eClub vs. Cancer!
Our club annually gets together to support the fight against cancer, and our 2019 effort starts this week - we would like every member of this club to get involved! You can walk as part of our group at the Santa Clara Relay for Life on April 27th, donate to help fund medical research, or honor a friend or family member battling cancer.

Happy Dollars: Do Good by Sharing Something Good
Each week we ask our members to share stories with the club and toss in a few dollars to support our efforts. The primary goal of this section is to provide a fun way of getting to know each fellow members and guests, while giving back to a good cause.
Happy dollars is an opportunity to share something positive that has happened in your life whether it is personal or business. Think of it as your opportunity to brag a little, but also put a little bit into a karma jar. The money donated through happy dollars is put to charitable use, and the message that you leave for happy dollars will be posted in our online meeting the following week for the entire week for folks to see! (Pending that it’s appropriate!)Here are the happy dollars contributions from last week!This section is usually updated on the early hours of Saturday, so contributions made over the weekend may not be listed here.
