Welcome Rotarians and Guests!As next week is our President Stephen Zhou's last week of his term as President of this e-Club, please join me in thanking him for his service and commitment by stepping up for this role. During his term, the e-Club of Silicon Valley launched its first annual fundraising event, grown its membership, and improved its infrastructure to provide quality speakers and programs. Annyen Lam's Tiny Blades Project showed her process is more important than the product.
World of Rotary
A venue move, the creation of a committee to attract marquee speakers, and the inception of a community-wide lobster festival raised the Rotary Club of Grove's profile. The club also embraced the use of red badges for new members to encourage engagement. Service projects, mixer attendance, and other tasks allow rookies to earn a blue badge.

Coffee With a Rotarian
A natural part of Rotary is the networking and the fellowship you get out of meeting other Rotarians. Coffee With a Rotarian is a monthly program of our club where we match participating club members for one-on-one virtual (or in some cases in person) coffee meetings, so they can learn more about each other. This program is organized by member Tzviatko Chiderov.
This week we have Rory from Houston, Texas reporting on his chat with Carlos from Monterrey, México.
Dr. Carlos Gabuardi and I just finished having our coffee with a Rotarian. He is a bright, charming man and a lot of fun to talk with. I had a great time.

Happy Dollars: Do Good by Sharing Something Good
Each week we ask our members to share stories with the club and toss in a few dollars to support our efforts. The primary goal of this section is to provide a fun way of getting to know each fellow members and guests, while giving back to a good cause.
Happy dollars is an opportunity to share something positive that has happened in your life whether it is personal or business. Think of it as your opportunity to brag a little, but also put a little bit into a karma jar. The money donated through happy dollars is put to charitable use, and the message that you leave for happy dollars will be posted in our online meeting the following week for the entire week for folks to see! I'm so impressed with how the Theta was used to demonstrate the experience of a student. I have a Theta but use it more for my own practical projects. I'll be bringing this idea to our school. Moreover, the connection to SGDs is huge. (I actually have a small SDG thing happening at our school next year, so I'm sure your resources will be helpful. My Grade 8s applied SDGs to a unit on globalization this past year. I'll be checking out the links in the meeting - very jazzed! Students creating content is massive for voice.
I only wish I knew about http://global.digitalpromise.org/ in March. Our school ended yesterday until August 20th. I hope this kind of opportunity will come to my students again. I've signed up on the website and will email our students. There may be a few interested.
I've got a little 360 project with my Theta S (the HD version) I'm doing but my little device is not cooperating recently and online Ricoh troubleshooting hasn't helped. It powers up, so it's something I can't figure out. :(
Note: Google recently released 360 Tour Creator. I've been playing with this and over the summer with be making tours for my students. You do have to go through a few steps to download 360 images from Streetview and then add to your tour.

Program: Bogotá Graffiti Tour
Every week we bring to you a new program on innovation, education, technology, and humanitarian service.
Jahir Dimaté was born in Bogotá, Colombia but grew up in the United States for most of his childhood. He lived as a child in New York, but spent most of his teenage years in South Florida. About thirteen years ago, he traveled back to Bogotá to visit family and never left. In that time he has been able to take advantage of his English speaking skills to create opportunities for himself and others in Colombia. For the last 4 years, he has been working for the Bogotá Graffiti Tour as one of the guides and curator of projects done in connection with the tour.Today you'll learn about one of the top tourist attractions in Bogotá, and the only one that gives back to the local community and artists.
