Weekly Funny with the Lady of Laughter (LOL)

World of Rotary
Rotary Youth Exchange inspired CEO to create low-cost speech device .As a Rotary Youth Exchange student in Ecuador seven years ago, Mary Elizabeth McCulloch volunteered at an orphanage that was home to both adults and children with disabilities. She noticed that those who had trouble speaking – mainly because of cerebral palsy – were seated alone by the windows, and for the most part no one communicated with them...

Coffee With a Rotarian
A natural part of Rotary is the networking and the fellowship you get out of meeting other Rotarians. Coffee With a Rotarian is a monthly program of our club where we match participating club members for one-on-one virtual (or in some cases in person) coffee meetings, so they can learn more about each other. This program is organized by member Tzviatko Chiderov.
This week we have Andrew from Oakland, CA, USA reporting on his chat with Celine from Belize.
Celine Neal is wicked smart! She studied engineering and has since returned to school to study computer science. She currently works as for Belize Electricity Limited. She was a Rotaractor before she joined our e-Club. In June, she will be joining a handful of us in Toronto for the Rotary International Convention. She will be bringing small bottles of hot sauce that is special to Belize. As a fan of all foods spicy, I look forward to this.

Happy Dollars: Do Good by Sharing Something Good
Each week we ask our members to share stories with the club and toss in a few dollars to support our efforts. The primary goal of this section is to provide a fun way of getting to know each fellow members and guests, while giving back to a good cause.
Happy dollars is an opportunity to share something positive that has happened in your life whether it is personal or business. Think of it as your opportunity to brag a little, but also put a little bit into a karma jar. The money donated through happy dollars is put to charitable use, and the message that you leave for happy dollars will be posted in our online meeting the following week for the entire week for folks to see! Our happy dollars for this week will go towards helping the victims of the recent volcano eruption in Guatemala. The proceeds would be donated to Rotary District 4250’s relief fund designated for this crisis relief.Our originally scheduled 2nd week of support for 2 young leaders to attend this year's Camp RYLA 5170 will be postponed to next week.Share your happy dollar thoughts with us and help with doing good around the world.

Program: Introducing MY World 360°
Every week we bring to you a new program on innovation, education, technology, and humanitarian service.
Rotary has for decades worked to help young people better appreciate the world around them, and help them become voices for peace and understanding.This week, our program is about an effort that aligns well with our work. MY World 360° invites young people around the world to use 360° media to identify and document challenges in their communities, and to think creatively about how to address them using the UN's Sustainable Development Goals as story prompts. This presentation will introduce participants to 360° media making and how it can be used by educators and community members to generate empathy and action around the Sustainable Development Goals.Our speakers are Dimitri Moore and Lisa Jobson of Digital Promise Global.Dimitri Moore produces video stories and coaches educators and students to produce 360° videos at Digital Promise Global. Dimitri has trained youth in media production and leadership development, and has produced music videos, short narrative films, promo and training videos, and documentaries. He has spoken at SXSWedu, Games for Change, the Mill Valley Film Festival, and the UN Global Festival of Action in Bonn, Germany. He is a resident at San Francisco Film Society’s FilmHouse Residency Program and serves as a member and co-chair of the KQED Community Advisory Panel. Dimitri has a BA in Film and Video from Columbia College Chicago.Lisa Jobson is a Senior Program Manager at Digital Promise Global. Prior to moving to Berkeley and joining Digital Promise Global, Lisa worked at iEARN-USA (International Education and Resource Network) in New York City, serving in numerous roles, including Executive Director and Chief Program Officer. There, she helped build a global network of schools and youth organizations to enable educators and students worldwide to connect, collaborate, and learn together. Lisa grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee, and has taught high school in Providence, Rhode Island, and Mmabatho, South Africa.Members and guests, please welcome Dimitri and Lisa!
