Happy April everyone! It's April 2nd today, so I think I'm off the hook for April Fools jokes (I'm terrible at those), but I hope you had some good ones yesterday. Feel free to share in the DISQUS comments below. Also happy belated Easter to all those who celebrated. If you did, please tell us about a fun story or a family tradition you try to follow for Easter every year. Being from Bulgaria, I am an Eastern Orthodox Christian, so our Easter is actually this coming Sunday! Traditionally we color eggs starting from Thursday and we engage in friendly "egg fights" on Easter Sunday. Not what you might think, so read more about it here.I am beyond excited that I will be our club's President in the 2019-2020 Rotary year and I look forward to continuing to learn from the club's current and past leaders so I can be of best service to all of you in taking Rotary's mission further.This week, we have a special program. Several dedicated Rotarians from Belize will be telling us about the projects they are involved in to make a difference in their community. Justin’s House Chili Cook-off
Join us as we enter into the annual chili cook-off in support for Justin’s House. We will be serving guests, tasting the competition, and maybe winning a prize or two! The mission of Justin’s House is to provide a variety of services that inspire youth to live beyond abuse and addiction.

Hey Members! What would you like to do? We’re working on putting together some exciting socials and impactful service projects for our upcoming quarter’s event calendar. Let us know what you want to do by posting in our members only Facebook Group (if you don’t have access, please request it with Webmaster Mitty). Remember, you’re only taking advantage of the full impact of Rotary when you’re stepping up to get involved.
Happy Dollars: Do Good by Sharing Something Good
Each week we ask our members to share stories with the club and toss in a few dollars to support our efforts. The primary goal of this section is to provide a fun way of getting to know each fellow members and guests, while giving back to a good cause.
Happy dollars is an opportunity to share something positive that has happened in your life whether it is personal or business. Think of it as your opportunity to brag a little, but also put a little bit into a karma jar. The money donated through happy dollars is put to charitable use, and the message that you leave for happy dollars will be posted in our online meeting the following week for the entire week for folks to see! (Pending that it’s appropriate!)

Please apply my gift to Polio Plus.Member Brian Liddicoat made a $15 donation to Happy Dollars and said:Working hard to find the right new school for my son: prayers appreciated!Guest Paul Andrus made a $10 donation to Happy Dollars and said:Seeing ice blown from One World Tower after a big storm from the day before fall perfectly into the reflection appointment from 1776 feet high. At first I couldn’t tell what was hitting the water..maybe flowers from visitors. But it dissolved when it hit the water. It took me a minute to figure it out. Then I looked up to understand. I was amazed no one was hit with the falling ice. It gave me the chills thinking about those people who jumped from the twin towers as I watched the ice fall and land perfectly in the middle of their memorial of cascading falls. It was a sobering and spiritual experience all at once. God Bless their families.

Chris Cochrane (Club Member in Canada) said,“Well done, Andrea. As a Toronto native and my hometown too, I’ll see everyone at the Convention. Be sure to join us on June 22 at 5:30 pm for drinks and fellowship. Location is The Loose Moose, a great bar restaurant a few minutes walk from the Convention Centre. The address is 146 Front Street West. Should anyone need info on Toronto, help, or simply suggestions, I’ll assist as possible.” Steven Shags Shagrin (Club Member in USA) said,I will also be missing the convention, and Toronto is one of my favorite cities. I used to live 284 miles away and visited there many, many times, and it is truly a fantastic and fun part of the world. This is the fifth time Toronto has hosted the RI Convention, the last time being in 1983 for the 74th year, which I visited as a less-than-1-year-Rotarian. Also has been held there in 1924 (#15), 1942 (#33), and 1964 (55th). Keith Marsh (Club Member in USA) said,BTW, Le Palais Ideal is in France (not mentioned in video). Andrea, thanks for the program. Toronto is a great city and will be a fantastic host for the convention. I will not be able to attend as I will be leaving for a Rotary international service project in Kenya with H2OpenDoors.

Program: The Purpose and Value of Community Restore
The Community Restore works to restore value in students, families, and community, including reading intervention, and family and individual counseling. The program provides opportunities for local high school and college students to serve, along with an adult literacy program we will hear about.Our speakers are several member of the team that makes Community Restore happen.Ramon Hernandez served in the US Navy for five years, traveling around the world as part of his service. After leaving the military, he partnered to start a successful construction company focused on energy conservation. Two years ago he decided to take a two-and-a-half year sabbatical to move his family of 6 (2 girls and 2 boys) to Belize to learn about other cultures and teach them the value in service.Natasha Babani-Punjabi is a general practitioner who has recently opened a private practice in Corozal. She has been with the Rotary Club of Corozal since December 2016.Elmer Huitz is a university student majoring in Information Technology. He also holds the position of Club Service Director in the Rotaract Club of Corozal, and is active in the Maya Association of Corozal and the Corozal Animal Program.Ron Zurlinden is a semi-retired civil and environmental engineer who lives in Belize for most of the year. Ron comes from Colorado and California where he still has a small consulting practice. In his volunteer time, Ron serves the Rotary Club of Corozal in the position of secretary and provides technical support for the recently-completed toilet and hand washing project.Shelley Falk spent 34 years in the airline industry and has had a legal defense business since 2001.
