Greetings Members and Guests,One thing I really like about the evolution of the philanthropic and humanitarian culture is now a greater drive to empowering people. Rotary has also evolved with a focus on sustainability of projects. To use a cliché, teaching a man how to fish doesn’t just feed him for a lifetime, it spreads the knowledge of fishing to future generations. This week’s speaker, Rabbi Michael Cohen, is one such teacher. He emphasizes what is important about all three foci of our recorded programs: education, innovation, and entrepreneurship.As we observe this week’s program, let’s think about how we can do more good work and spread the word about it to inspire even more good work. Coffee With a Rotarian
A natural part of Rotary is the networking and the fellowship you get out of meeting other Rotarians. Coffee With a Rotarian is a monthly program of our club where we match participating club members for one-on-one virtual (or in some cases in person) coffee meetings, so they can learn more about each other. This program is organized by member Tzviatko Chiderov.
This week we have Ferheen from Santa Clara, CA, USA reporting on a chat with Mahmood from San Jose, CA, USA.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mahmood during this round of CWR! He grew up in London but has made the Bay Area home for quite a while now! As a Charter member, Mahmood helped support the creation of our eClub! Because I'm new to Rotary, I asked him about his involvement with the organization. He attended San Jose and Sunnyvale Rotary meetings in the past but he really likes our eClub because it's flexible and we can network with so many different people across the world. Also, Mahmood told me some great advice - I need to continue networking!! It's especially important as I begin to explore my career path. He also suggested that I begin a "Science Corner" for our Rotary meetings where I could introduce some new science to the group. I like that idea :) It was super fun talking to Mahmood and I'm looking forward to meeting him in person in August at our fundraiser!!

Happy Dollars: Do Good by Sharing Something Good
Each week we ask our members to share stories with the club and toss in a few dollars to support our efforts. The primary goal of this section is to provide a fun way of getting to know each fellow members and guests, while giving back to a good cause.
Happy dollars is an opportunity to share something positive that has happened in your life whether it is personal or business. Think of it as your opportunity to brag a little, but also put a little bit into a karma jar. The money donated through happy dollars is put to charitable use, and the message that you leave for happy dollars will be posted in our online meeting the following week for the entire week for folks to see! (Pending that it’s appropriate!)

For the past 4 years, I had the Galaxy S5 and after maybe 2 years the quality of pictures/videos declined rapidly such that (it was a real pity) I couldn't take beautiful videos of my experience in Japan. After coming home, I upgraded to an S9 and wow, the video quality is just stunning! So your presentation gave me hope that I could potentially make awesome videos just with my little smartphone camera :)
Also, the video on the Buddhist statues made me sad - I miss Japan! :(

Program: The Entrepreneurial Impact On Teaching Practice
Every week we bring to you a new program on innovation, entrepreneurship, and education, and how those contribute to service to others.
Our speaker this week is internationally recognized and sought-after speaker, trainer, and author Michael Cohen, The Tech Rabbi. He is a designer, educator and creativity instigator. His mission is to help educators around the world reveal their own creative abilities so they can empower students to solve interesting problems and become positive contributors to our global society. When he isn’t traveling the world sharing his message, he serves as the director of innovation for Yeshiva University of Los Angeles Boys School (YULA).How do we teach students entrepreneurship? This topic is receiving plenty of attention in the educational community, but to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset among students, do teachers have to become entrepreneurs? How can teachers harness entrepreneurship inside and outside the classroom? The presentation will look at strategies, resources, and practices that can bring stakeholders together to enable entrepreneurship among those who might not have know they had it in them.Members and guests, please welcome The Tech Rabbi, Michael Cohen!
