Hello World!
I'm back! Past President Mitty here. It's exhilarating to be writing one of these just a few months after my term as club president ended. President Stephen has been gracious enough to allow me to share my message with you all this week and preside over the week's meeting. And I'm excited because it's TURKEY WEEK here in the states!
396 years ago, people from two different geographic origins came to break bread at an autumn harvest feast, acknowledged by many people as the first Thanksgiving celebration. This week, many of us will be breaking bread with our families, our friends, and our loved ones. Whether or not you celebrate Thanksgiving this week, another week, or not at all, this week is a time to be thankful and to share what we have with others.
With that, I would like to present this week's challenge. (A true test of if you skip the opening remarks for the meeting or not!) Please spend a minute and reflect on what you are thankful for, and share your thoughts with us in the comments section. You can share it with words, with photos, with video, or with a combination of all of the above. Bonus points if you share with us a photo of you sharing a meal with someone (or many people) who matter to you.
I am grateful for all that I have, which includes this club and its members. I'm especially happy that we are able to share this Thanksgiving with our newest members, [redacted by request] from the Silicon Valley! (Psst... new member induction this week!)

Weekly Inspiration: Meet Tokyo's Robot Queen!
Every week we start our meetings with a short video highlighting innovation, inspiration, entrepreneurship, or social change. This week we are featuring a video from Great Big Story about how one entrepreneur merged robots, food, and entertainment together in Tokyo.
In five short years, Tokyo’s Robot Restaurant has become the stuff of legend. In short, it’s a restaurant where guests are treated to a wild show involving oversized radio-controlled animatronics, dancers, a rock band and more flashing lights and colors than you can imagine. Owner Namie Osawa was working in the clothing industry and wanted to start a new endeavor that would utilize the talents of her out-of-work dancer friends. She conceived of Robot Restaurant as a nostalgic stop for the city's throngs of everyday working men and women. But today, she's got one of the hottest joints in town and is thrilled to welcome thousands of people who cross the ocean to see her show.

World of Rotary
The over 1.2 million members of Rotary Clubs around the world form the largest humanitarian service organization, Rotary International. We're part of this global family. This segment is a tribute to stories and to good deeds Rotary clubs around the world are conducting.
The Rotary-USAID International H2O Collaboration
Since 2009, Rotary and USAID have partnered to improve access to clean water and sanitation in developing countries, working on continuous improvement while sharing learnings with other philanthropic and humanitarian organizations.In 2015, the collaboration committed $4 million each to Ghana, Uganda, and Madagascar, with each partner providing half of the funds needed. Rotary seeks to raise $200,000 for each country by 2018 as part of its $2 million per country commitment. The investment will support:WASH project design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluationLeadership and advocacy using Rotary members' expertise and resources to leverage WASH resources and initiativesInnovation of processes, tools, and partnerships in the WASH sector, such as the WASH Sustainability Index Tool, which determines the long-term technical and financial sustainability of WASH interventions.Read more about this partnership at Rotary.org.

Recent Event Recap:
The most unique mini golfing experience ever!
This past Sunday, members Monique and Mitty and guests John "Z" and Allen showed up to our November social at Urban Putt in San Francisco. The four spent the first hour catching up and chatting at the indoor bar at Urban Putt, snacking on delicious small bites and savoring some of the best beverages one can enjoy on a sunny Sunday afternoon in the city. And then the four tackled the mini golf course set, which was a mix of machines, contraptions, creativity, art, and technology. The four decided resoundingly that Urban Putt was one of the most unique mini golfing experiences they have had experienced, and hope that more club members and guests can join the next time we have an event there! Mini golf competition, anyone? :)

Happy Dollars: Do Good by Sharing Something Good
Each week we ask our members to share stories with the club and toss in a few dollars to support our efforts. The primary goal of this section is to provide a fun way of getting to know each fellow members and guests, while giving back to a good cause.
Happy dollars is an opportunity to share something positive that has happened in your life whether it is personal or business. Think of it as your opportunity to brag a little, but also put a little bit into a karma jar. The money donated through happy dollars is put to charitable use, and the message that you leave for happy dollars will be posted in our online meeting the following week for the entire week for folks to see! (Pending that it's appropriate!)

Guest Dr. Carlos Gabuardi, Ph.D. had this to say:"When I was watching the video about the good work that Dr. José Luis Mosso Vázquez is doing I couldn’t avoid remembering that sentence of the poem “Desideratha” by Max Ehrmmann: “everywhere life is full of heroism”. To me this session is a reminder on how much can be done with so little where theres is the will and the commitment to lend a hand to others. Also, I want to highlight something mentioned by Heather when she said that the fact that the Rotary Club was involved in the grant to the school made it more “official”. That is very relevant because it addresses an issue of credibility that has been given to us by Rotary and the work of rotarians all over the world. Thank you to all of you, Andrew, Heather and Tzviatko for this inspiring session."

Program: TheraBaby for Seniors with Dementia
Every week we bring to you a new program on innovation, education, technology, and humanitarian service. This week our program features guest Joseph "Joe" Choi, the Founder of TheraBaby, a doll that helps seniors with dementia.
Joseph "Joe" Choi is a serial entrepeneur, engineer, and business owner. Joe graduated from the University of Hawaii with a Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering, and later graduated from Stanford University with a Masters of Science in Civil Engineering. Joe has worked for the FMC Corporate Technology Center and for Cisco as an IT Manager. Joe is currently the President & CEO of JWay Group and Principal of Neo Global Technologies. In 2012, Joe founded TheraBaby®.
The TheraBaby® doll was intended for use in doll therapy and person-centered care for seniors with dementia. The design for the TheraBaby® doll draws on published research studies, field studies, and the personal experiences with doll therapy of Founder and Director, Joe Choi, as well as those of many others.
In this week's program, Joe will share with us more about the mission of TheraBaby and how his team is helping seniors with dementia.
