Greetings Members and Friends of Rotary e-Club of Silicon Valley. As President of our Club, I want to welcome you all today.

Every week we share a short video highlighting innovation, education, entrepreneurship, or whatever we think might inspire you to see the world in new ways.
When a glacier melts, it doesn't just happen drop by drop. There are moments when huge chunks separate from the glacier to become massive icebergs, and in this video, you see a terrifyingly large portion break away. This video is apparently taken by a tourist and is largely unedited, including the sounds of the wind as that person and several others witness a reminder of how nature sometimes deals with change. Perhaps this is an inspiration to think about our planet in a way you haven't before.

It’s time to consider your gift to Rotary for the annual TRF Fund. There are several ways to give: outright payment (Check or Credit Card), monthly payments billed to your credit card, allocation to several funds, etc. Our TRF Chair, Phil Dean will be in touch with us soon regarding your pledge and methods for collecting. But first, Phil thought it might be helpful to provide some reasons why you should consider pledging a gift to TRF. We are striving to be designated as part of “Every Year, Every Rotarian”. Your gift matters, either a small amount or a large amount (that is up to you - we will never tell you how much to give). Here are some reasons to consider:

HAPPY DOLLARS: Do Good by Sharing Something Good
Each week we ask our members to share stories with the club and toss in a few dollars to support our efforts. The primary goal of this section is to provide a fun way of getting to know each fellow members and guests, while giving back to a good cause.
Happy dollars is an opportunity to share something positive that has happened in your life whether it is personal or business. Think of it as your opportunity to brag a little, but also put a little bit into a karma jar. The money donated through happy dollars is put to charitable use.

As AI tools become more prevalent, they raise important and complex questions about their intellectual property implications. Who owns the works created using AI? Do AI-generated works violate IP rights? Do AI models violate IP rights when they use third-party works for training purposes? This talk will answer these questions, and your own, in an effort to clarify these confusing IP topics.
Our speaker, Eric Goldman, is Associate Dean for Research, Professor of Law, Co-Director of the High Tech Law Institute, and Supervisor of the Privacy Law Certificate, at Santa Clara University School of Law. His research and teaching focuses on Internet law, and he blogs on that topic at the Technology & Marketing Law Blog (see links below).
