Guests, we are happy to have you join us this week!
As we see it, our flexibility as an online, asynchronous club allows a special type of service to Rotarians around the world: we make it easier for anyone to strive for and maintain 100% attendance. That keeps you engaged with Rotary's events and ideas, and provides a moment of inspiration for devoting your creativity, talents, and resources to good causes.
You are certainly not required to pay anything in order to attend our meetings. However, if you would like to make a small contribution to our service efforts, you are welcome to do so in our secure Happy Dollars section down the page. This could be what you normally pay at your own club's meetings for lunch, for example. Any amount is welcome, but first and foremost, we're happy you've joined us, and hope you will share with others who we are and what we do to help inspire Service Above Self.
And don't forget to fill out our attendance form so you get an email you can pass on to your club's secretary!

We believe laughter is an important part of life, and we should all make time to laugh a little. This segment of our meeting is meant to tickle you just enough. These funnies are curated by member Steven "Shags" Shagrin !
Tough Pill to Swallow
A man goes to the doctor with a swollen foot. After a careful examination, the doctor gives the man a pill big enough to choke a horse.
"I'll be right back with some water," the doctor tells him.
The doctor has been gone a while and the man loses patience. He hobbles out to the drinking fountain, forces the pill down his throat and gobbles down water until the pill clears his throat. He hobbles back into the examining room.
Just then the doctor comes back with a bucket of warm water, "Okay after the tablet dissolves, soak that foot for about 20 minutes."
Weekly Inspiration

The shamisen is a traditional stringed instrument in Japan, and this short video will introduce you to it in an especially beautiful setting. A good conversation starter about music, design, and culture.

The YES Guy: Frank Nelson
Thanks to YouTuber Anthony Scibelli for his posts. Frank Nelson is one of my favorite comedic actors from the "old days". "This episode of "Unsung Legends of Comedy" celebrates the life and work of Frank Nelson, best remembered as the unctuous "Yeeeeees" Man from "The Jack Benny Program." He also made memorable appearances on "I Love Lucy," "Sanford and Son," and many more."

Happy Dollars: Do Good by Sharing Something Good
Each week we ask our members to share stories with the club and toss in a few dollars to support our efforts. The primary goal of this section is to provide a fun way of getting to know each fellow members and guests, while giving back to a good cause.
Happy dollars is an opportunity to share something positive that has happened in your life whether it is personal or business. Think of it as your opportunity to brag a little, but also put a little bit into a karma jar. The money donated through happy dollars is put to charitable use, and the message that you leave for happy dollars will be posted in our online meeting the following week for the entire week for folks to see! (Pending that it’s appropriate!)

We have had short rain storms here in Houston for several weeks. Rain makes my cats unhappy. I am driving off tomorrow to hold a hearing in Goliad, Texas.

We started our summer virtual chess program for beginners with the San Francisco Police Activities League yesterday! We have 11 students and are very happy to teach the game of peace and humility to 8-12 year olds.

Punk music venues in Beijing in the early 2000s were largely illegal but full of passionate creatives thriving off being amongst like-minded peers. For our speaker, Tamsin Nugent, this was the springboard to a career as an entrepreneur, pushing boundaries, navigating conventions, and creating new ways to promote cool stuff to cool people.
Tamsin is a Hong Kong-born Brit who speaks fluent Mandarin and carries a deep interest in innovations and responsible practices in the art world.
The punk rock scene in Beijing paved the way to a career navigating around the convention and promoting the emerging arts. Tamsin founded Red T in 2004 as an art gallery in Beijing’s 798 contemporary art district. She then grew it to incorporate the first affordable art fair in China and a music company for alternative music. The gallery was demolished in 2008 when Tamsin moved to Hong Kong as the inaugural director of the high-end art gallery Ben Brown Fine Arts, catching the post-global financial crisis wave in contemporary art in Asia. This was followed by a stint in Melbourne running an art fair and founding an art-focused recruitment firm.
Now, Tamsin is back in Hong Kong at the helm of Red T, pioneering a new innovation connecting the mass art buying market to easily customized fine art by notable artists on a novel digital platform: Red T Multiples.
