Message from our President
Greetings Members and Friends of Rotary e-Club of Silicon Valley. As President of our Club, I want to welcome you all today.
WEEKLY FUNNY WITH SHAGS
We believe laughter is an important part of life, and we should all make time to laugh a little. This segment of our meeting is meant to tickle you just enough. These funnies are curated by member Steven "Shags" Shagrin!
Mr. Fix-It
When our dryer broke, my husband set to work. He found the problem quickly and, since he needed to replace the belt, decided to repair a cracked knob and a broken hinge too.
Upon arrival at the Sears parts counter, he said he needed a belt, knob, hinge, and a crescent-shaped wire he'd found inside the dryer. He didn't know where it belonged, but he confidently assured the clerk that he could figure it out once he got into the job.
"I have the other parts," the clerk said, " but for the wire, you have to go to Lingerie. This is an underwire from your wife's bra."
INSPIRATION
This 2018 video from the International Committee of the Red Cross is a deeply powerful (and completely fictional) piece about healthcare in times of conflict. CONSIDER CAREFULLY before watching; it might trigger any number of feelings or experiences for some who see it. With honest, thoughtful preparation, though, it can be an important learning moment. (Thanks to Murata Shinjiro of Doctors Without Borders Japan for sharing this with the Google group I spoke to in Tokyo in March. - Rushton)

Club News (Members)
Our Club News and Member links are now on the Members Only ClubRunner Site and are emailed weekly as a Club Bulletin. Please make sure your email address is current on ClubRunner.
Members, our newsletter arrives separately in your inbox each Monday. It provides updates and information about club activities and projects, Happy Dollars, news from the District, and ways of supporting The Rotary Foundation. We also email your Dues notices using this service.
However, over 40% of our members do not open their club emails from ClubRunner. As email is our primary means of communication to members, please add mailservice@clubrunner.ca to your address book, and never mark email from that address as spam. Please be sure to open the email from the club when received, as there is timely information to keep you updated about our club.
PROGRAM: Walk of Life
SPEAKER: Vijay Rajvaidya
Every week we bring you a new program on innovation, entrepreneurship, and education, and how those contribute to service to others.
The Rotary eClub of Silicon Valley seeks to explore perspectives on service from across the world. The views of the speakers in our programs are their own and, unless stated otherwise, are not necessarily reflective of the views of our eClub or Rotary International.
If you have an idea for a cool speaker, please feel free to reach out to them directly or submit THIS FORM so our Program Committee can contact them!
The Walk of Life project is a unique and inspiring initiative aimed at improving literacy in India and promoting education of Indian culture and heritage in the world. Even in a world of electronic communication, the best communication happens when we meet people in person. By Walk of Life, the primary intention is to connect with the people and motivate them to acquire education and adopt practices conducive to healthy living.
Our speaker, Vijay Rajvaidya, serves as the Managing Director and CFO of India Currents, an award-winning publication that has served the Indian American community for 37 years. He brings over three decades of experience in Silicon Valley's high-tech and IT industry to his role at the helm of this nonprofit organization. His deep-rooted passion lies in India's rich culture, heritage, and civilizational history, which he is dedicated to sharing with his fellow Americans.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Vijay is an active member of his Rotary Club, the Evergreen Valley Rotary Club, where he contributes to literacy projects in India.
In a remarkable undertaking, Vijay has embarked on a transformative project—walking through India on foot. This extraordinary journey covers the twelve Jyotirling temples, spanning approximately 6000 miles/9000 kilometers. Vijay's educational background includes an MBA in finance and multiple graduate degrees in engineering. In his leisure moments, he wears many hats, from being a theater actor and a licensed pilot to a mountaineer and a certified scuba diver.
Members and guests, please welcome Vijay Rajvaidya!
