As we see it, our flexibility as an online, asynchronous club allows a special type of service to Rotarians around the world: we make it easier for anyone to strive for and maintain 100% attendance. That keeps you engaged with Rotary's events and ideas, and provides a moment of inspiration for devoting your creativity, talents, and resources to good causes.You are certainly not required to pay anything in order to attend our meetings. However, if you would like to make a small contribution to our service efforts, you are welcome to do so in our secure Happy Dollars section down the page. This could be what you normally pay at your own club's meetings for lunch, for example. Any amount is welcome, but first and foremost, we're happy you've joined us, and hope you will share with others who we are and what we do to help inspire Service Above Self.And don't forget to fill out our attendance form so you get an email you can pass on to your club's secretary!

Weekly Inspiration
Every week we start our meetings with a short video highlighting innovation, inspiration, entrepreneurship, or social change.
Budapest’s skyline is full of buildings topped with colorful tile. It graces the roofs of iconic structures like Great Market Hall and Matthias Church, which required five railway wagons full of roof tiles delivered to the construction site.These tiles were all manufactured right in Hungary at the Zsolnay Porcelain Factory. The company, founded in 1853, started making the roof tile beloved by architects in the 1860s. István Komor, operating director of the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter, takes us on a tour of the factory, which produces the famous tile to this day.

The Christmas and New Year period has meant spending a lot of time with family and friends (both human and furry). Naturally, being married to Angela, this has meant a lot of baking - including some treats for my sister's dog!We were lucky enough to be able to head down to Sydney Harbour to watch the midnight fireworks display - however the big tree in these photos is blocking the Harbour Bridge so you'll have to use your imagination!On a more sombre note, many of you will be aware of the bushfire crisis currently taking place across Australia (where we live).We are lucky that we have not been directly impacted so far, unlike many others who have not been so fortunate and lost their homes and some even their lives, including several volunteer firefighters.The Rotary Australia World Community Service (an initiative of Rotary Australian Districts) has set up a bushfire appeal and you can visit this link if you wish to donate: https://rawcs.org.au/disasters/

For these aspen trees in Utah, I used a technique to blur the trees to create an abstract feeling of motion.I set the camera at a slow shutter speed and then moved the lens up and down while pressing the shutter release.This takes some practice and does not work well except in a few situations.

Coffee With a Rotarian
A natural part of Rotary is the networking and the fellowship you get out of meeting other Rotarians. Coffee With a Rotarian is a monthly program of our club where we match participating club members for one-on-one virtual (or in some cases in person) coffee meetings, so they can learn more about each other. This program is organized by member Tzviatko Chiderov.
This week we have Tatiana from Vancouver, BC, Canada reporting on a chat with Mahmood from San Jose, CA, USAMahmood and I had a chance to talk yesterday for our December CWR. It was a pleasure to talk with Mahmood and we had a far ranging conversation on the founding of the eClub as well as our personal tragectories that led us to San Jose & Vancouver. Here is a little bit about him:
Caleb LaPlante was born in California, living also in Hawaii and Oklahoma, before relocating to Southern Oregon at six years old.
He stayed there until graduating high school, then left home to attend college in New York. After, he lived in Yellowstone, Washington D.C. and San Francisco, before returning to Southern Oregon in 2004. Now 39 years old, married with two littles, he owns and operates Generations Real Estate.A Rotarian since 2014, he has attended an International Convention, led a four-club District Grant project, and has experience with Global Grants, as well. Fun fact: when he was seven, Caleb and his father traveled the U.S. for 3 months in a Volkswagen camper van, seeing nearly every state, most National Parks, and capturing it all on video.

Happy Dollars: Do Good by Sharing Something Good
Each week we ask our members to share stories with the club and toss in a few dollars to support our efforts. The primary goal of this section is to provide a fun way of getting to know each fellow members and guests, while giving back to a good cause.
Happy dollars is an opportunity to share something positive that has happened in your life whether it is personal or business. Think of it as your opportunity to brag a little, but also put a little bit into a karma jar. The money donated through happy dollars is put to charitable use, and the message that you leave for happy dollars will be posted in our online meeting the following week for the entire week for folks to see! (Pending that it’s appropriate!)

Very informative presentation. I had no idea the damages and the plight of population due to wars in Liberia. It has been out of sight due to dominance of the other middle Eastern wars. What a sad situation and the crazy world we live in. On a positive note - I admire the resilience, innovation and good will of people of Liberia to take care of them selves. There is still hope for the world!
